Sydney Saetre, 86Sun City resident Sydney Alfred Saetre died Jan. 15, 2008, at Mayo Hospital, Sherman Hospice Home, in Phoenix.Dr. Saetre was born July 23, 1921, in Henning, Minn., the son of Alfred and Ida (Thoreson) Saetre. He was educated in the Henning public schools, graduating from high school in 1939. He attended Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn., in 1941-42. He entered the U.S. Army in June 1942 and served in the 25th Infantry Division through World War II in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in December 1945.He entered Northwestern College of Chiropractic (now Northwestern Health Sciences University) in Bloomington, Minn., in 1946. He completed his education and received his Doctorate of Chiropractic in the fall of 1950. He practiced the profession in Butte, Glasgow and Great Falls, Mont., and was honored as Montana Chiropractor of the Year by his colleagues. He completed his professional career in Great Falls, retiring in 1987.Dr. Saetre married Yvonne Hansen March 24, 1951, in Wells, Minn. They moved to Sun City in 1990, spending the summers in the area of his boyhood home in Henning. He was a Mason and a member of the Shrine, Bagdad Temple, in Great Falls. He enlightened the lives of his immediate family, his many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and a host of patients who looked to him for physical relief in the course of his practice.He is survived by his wife; two sisters, Josephine Johnson of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Clarice Espeland of Henning; and three brothers, Warren (Margaret) Saetre of Thief River Falls, Minn., Homer (Esther) Saetre of Battle Lake, Minn., and Robert (Janice) Saetre of Vining, Minn.He was preceded in death by his father in 1936, his mother in 1982 and his older brother, Gaylord Saetre, in 1990.A memorial service was conducted Jan. 19 at Shepherd of the Desert Lutheran Church in Sun City, which was officiated by Shepherd of the Desert Pastor Barbara Duhlstine-Robarge and the Rev. David Saetre, one of Dr. Saetre's nephews, of Ashland, Wis.
