Stopping by an ice cream shop on a hot, summer day can be the needed relief from the sweltering Arizona heat. In Scottsdale, a couple of shops are remixing this concept by adding the option of incorporating alcohol into these classic sweet treats.
A relatively new idea to the Valley, the alcoholic ice cream fad has been sweeping the country over the last few years. According to a Bloomberg report in 2021, the alcohol-infused ice cream market is expected to exceed revenues of $450 million by 2025.
The first dessert spot in Scottsdale to obtain its liquor license was UNBaked, which specializes in edible cookie dough alongside its “boozy” creations. Cari Peterson, owner of UNBaked, says that when they opened in 2018, the shop was initially focused on just the cookie dough.
