A man was hospitalized in “extremely critical” condition Saturday after the pickup truck he was driving collided with an SUV near 47th Avenue and Thunderbird Road, police said.
The crash occurred about 2:50 a.m. March 29. Phoenix police officers arrived at the scene to find fire department personnel treating the man and a woman who drove the SUV. Both were taken to a hospital. The woman had a non-life-threatening injury.
Preliminary information suggests both vehicles were heading west on Thunderbird Road when the pickup rear-ended the SUV, causing both vehicles to go off the roadway, according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
The pickup struck a traffic pole, and the SUV rolled over.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to process the evidence, police said.
