Victim identified in Phoenix electric bike crash, suspect sought

Gael Garcia, 20, died at a hospital Sunday after being hit by a vehicle while on his electric bicycle in west Phoenix, police said Tuesday.

The collision occurred just before 2 a.m. June 29 as the bicyclist was traveling west on Osborn Road when he was hit by the vehicle, which police said likely was traveling south on 71st Avenue. The suspect’s vehicle will show signs of damage, police stated in an earlier release.

Investigators are asking that anyone with information to call into Silent Witness (480-WITNESS | 480-TESTIGO). Tips leading to an arrest are eligible for a $2,000 reward, police said.
