An officer shot and killed a man in a confrontation Thursday morning in northeast Phoenix, police said Thursday in a release.
Officers responded to the area of 32nd Street and Paradise Lane about 2:09 a.m. for reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they saw a man walking in the road who matched the description of one of the involved subjects, according to the release.
As officers got out of their patrol vehicles to contact him, they saw he was armed with a handgun. The man began walking toward the officers, and officers gave the man commands to drop his gun. He ignored commands and continued approaching officers while still armed. This is when the officer-involved shooting occurred, according to the release.
