A suspect has been arrested in the death of a woman who was killed a week ago while hiking along a trail in northeastern Phoenix, police said Thursday night.
The suspect was identified Friday morning as Zion William Teasley, 22. He was booked in Maricopa County Jail on a homicide charge.
He was being questioned May 4 about the April 28 slaying after his arrest at an apartment complex near Scottsdale and Bell roads.
The body of Lauren Heike, 29, was found April 29 about a mile away on a desert trail near East Libby Street and North 65th Place, police said.
Heike, according to authorities, was attacked from behind, and her body showed signs of trauma.
