Suspect faces murder charge in central Phoenix shooting

Posted

A 37-year-old man is dead and another is behind bars as the suspect in his slaying, Phoenix police said.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. June 9 when officers went to a home near 12th and Garfield streets regarding a shooting. They found Tracy Walker with at least one gunshot wound. He died later at a hospital, police said.

Officers detained Calyveion Hendrix, 24.

Hendrix was interviewed by detectives and “made admissions to being responsible for the shooting," a Phoenix Police Department release stated. Hendrix was booked into jail on a murder charge.

No other suspects are believed to be involved in this incident, police said.
