Suspect arrested during GCU campus arson investigation

A 19-year-old man, who is a student at Grand Canyon University and lives on campus, has been arrested in connection with a fire inside a GCU building, Phoenix police said.
First responders went to the campus near 5300 North 30th Drive shortly after 9:20 a.m. Oct. 27, and the fire, which caused minor damage, was extinguished, but water damage from a sprinkler system was “significant,” according to a Phoenix Police Department release.
The Phoenix Fire Department’s Arson Investigation Taskforce, which includes personnel from the Phoenix Police Department and the Phoenix Fire Department, began investigating and determined the fire appeared to be arson.

After following leads, authorities identified Jacob Jarvis as a suspect, police stated in the release. Authorities said he admitted to committing arson.
He was booked into jail, and the investigation is continuing.
