SUSD takes step toward bringing back sex ed

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board took another step toward offering sex education in schools during its Aug. 20 meeting.

The governing board heard an update from its committee to review the issue and conducted a state-required public hearing on the topic. The board is expected to take a final vote on the issue during its Oct. 22 meeting.

The 13-person committee is recommending the district begin teaching human growth, sex ed, curriculum by The Best at the fifth, seventh and ninth grade levels.
