Evaluation team monitors Scottsdale Schools COVID-19 cases

District moves to school-by-school evaluation

Scottsdale’s Cherokee Elementary School parents/guardians recently were notified in writing by the principal that Maricopa County Department of Public Health has identified a COVID-19 outbreak in the building.

While informed “there is no action for you to take at this time,” the letter follows a unanimous decision by the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board on Jan. 26 instituting building-level COVID-19 metrics to established parameters to return to distance learning, which will be monitored by a Virtual Evaluation Team at each school.

The VET, comprised of teachers, building and central office administrators, school nurses and the COVID coordinator will consider the building-specific metrics to recommend if a school should return temporarily to virtual learning. The following assists in making that decision for schools:
