SUSD Governing Board celebrates students’ and staff’s achievements

The Scottsdale Unified School District honored several students and employees during it Dec. 12 meeting. They were:

• Desert Mountain High School senior Layla Gregory for winning the Arizona Thespians Jerome McDonough Award playwright award.

• Saguaro High School senior Alex Stephenson, who was not present, for winning Scottsdale Leadership’s Bill Jenkins Youth Leadership Award,

• Chris Haak, Chaparral High School Economics/AP U.S. History teacher, for winning the Arizona Council on Economic Education’s 2023 High School Teacher of the Year.

• Saguaro High School honors biotechnology/pre-AP biology teacher Scott Milne and SUSD Facilities Grounds Lead Joe Arteca for, living labs, McDowell Sonoran Conservancy campus projects.

• Saguaro High School’s varsity football team for winning the The 2023 AIA 6A State Championship. Head coach Zak Hill as well as players Trey Morrison, Reiss Rinaldi and Jacob Brown were present to receive the honors.
