Susanne Marie Stencel, 80
Susanne lost her short battle with liver cancer at 1:55am Saturday, March 19th 2022. Susanne Marie Stencel was born 10:52am Monday, August 11th 1941 at Loretto Hospital, Chicago, Illinois to Gaetano and Mary Vinceri. Sue was a great daughter, sister, friend, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, cook, and good bowler. She was that and more!
Sue married Paul Bardin (deceased). They had four children. She divorced Paul in 1975 and later married Ken Stencel. They met at a bowling alley in Northlake, Illinois and lived in Northlake for a few years before moving to Hillside, Illinois. They moved to Glendale, Arizona in 1988 and later moved to Sun City in 1998. Sue was always the life of the party and hosted many especially around holidays.
She enjoyed bowling, watching tv and singing in the church choir. She loved reading and put together quite a library of books over the years. She was a great cook and loved to bake and decorate cakes too.
After graduating high school, she worked for the 1st National Bank of Chicago. She took time off the work force to raise her four kids then later took a job at New York Notions in Melrose Park, Illinois. After a brief stint there she started work at APEX Automotive, an automotive parts warehouse as an order picker until moving to Arizona. She continued with the automotive parts jobs in Phoenix and worked for HLS Distributing, APS (Automotive Parts Service aka Big “A” Auto Parts) Northern Automotive (aka Checker Auto Parts) and PSC Distributing.
Sue is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ken Stencel, sister Carol Woodall; Bourbonnais, Illinois, her children, Denise Zimmerman; Downers Grove, Illinois, Debbie Minnifield; Bartlett, Illinois, Paul Bardin Jr.; Glendale Heights, Illinois, Tony Bardin; Addison, Illinois, two nieces, two nephews, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She will be missed by everyone. A memorial Mass will be held at 11am Wednesday, April 27th at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Drive, Sun City, Arizona. Interment to follow at Sunland Memorial Park, 15826 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, Arizona.
