Survey: Most Arizonans don’t trust coronavirus vaccine

Governor, news, social media among least-trusted voices

As public health officials continue to administer the COVID-19 vaccine amid dwindling supplies of needed doses, one advocacy group aims to help educate residents and encourage enough public participation to end the ongoing public health crisis.

Sybil Francis, president and CEO of the Center for the Future of Arizona, spoke to Daily Independent about her group’s recent efforts and shared some results from a comprehensive survey they conducted recently, which examines the perceptions of Arizonans about the vaccine, among other topics.

“We work to bring important issues to the public’s attention and then we help mobilize communities through sharing of data to address big challenges facing our state,” Ms. Francis said of the nonpartisan, nonprofit group, which she co-founded in 2002 along with former Arizona State University president Lattie Coor. “One important way we have understood what matters most to Arizonans is our very unique partnership with the Gallup organization.”
