OPINION — Carolyn Copeland’s letter, Minnesota mother should have used better judgement, is one of the most chilling examples of misplaced moral certainty I’ve ever read.

In her rush to defend the indefensible, she forgot the most basic fact of all — a human being is dead.

Renee Nicole Good was more than a political talking point; she was a daughter, a wife, a mother. To turn her death into an occasion for scolding obedience is an act of moral blindness that no reasonable person should excuse.
