Surprise starts process of adding lanes on Cactus Road

Last month, Surprise quietly started the process for designing and building its next major road upgrade.

The city posted a request for proposal Sept. 29 on the design of a Cactus Road upgrade from Cotton Lane to Reems Road. That serves as a public announcement for the project budgeted at $15 million for design and construction.

When complete, this stretch of Cactus will have three lanes in each direction with a turn lane in the center, landscaped medians and lighting on the edges of the roadway.
