Surprise sets last public meeting for property maintenance ordinance

Posted

The last of two virtual public meetings is this week as the city of Surprise is requesting public comment on its draft property maintenance ordinance.

The PMO would establish minimum standards for all property, residential and commercial building maintenance throughout the city.

Residents and business owners are encouraged to learn more about the ordinance and ask questions at 6 p.m. April 13.

A link to the virtual public meeting is available at surpriseaz.gov/PMO.

The proposed PMO would replace the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) adopted by the Surprise City Council in 2007.

It would become part of the Surprise Municipal Code upon adoption.

The public is invited to comment on the PMO during the 60-day comment period. Public comments will be accepted through Sunday, May 2, via an online comment box at surpriseaz.gov/PMO.

A presentation and vote to adopt the PMO is tentatively scheduled for the second regular city council meeting in June 15. If adopted, the ordinance will be effective July 15.

The ordinance can be viewed at  surpriseaz.gov.
