Surprise sees decrease in illegal sober living homes

Transitional housing problem clearing up as more go legit

Sober living homes are meant to get people with alcohol and drug addiction back on their feet — but they’re supposed to be licensed and legitimate.

Unfortunately for Surprise, the city saw a rash of unlicensed sober living homes earlier this year.

But the problem is starting to clear up significantly, city staff said in a recent update.
