The morning after her final day of work for the city of Surprise, on what was “Sherry Aguilar Day” across the city, Aguilar awoke at her usual time of 4 a.m. She had no place to immediately go, but her body thought otherwise.
“That’s going to take a while to change,” Aguilar said. “I’m just programed.”
The previous day, the lifelong Surprise resident said goodbye to a 33-year career with the city, most of it as its esteemed clerk, with an emotional sendoff at City Hall that was befit a longtime mayor or somebody of that stature.
