Surprise says drought conditions not affecting its water supply

City is already planning into future despite state cutbacks

Arizona’s decades-long drought doesn’t seem to be letting up and water levels continue to drop at the Lake Mead reservoir that serves many homes across the state.

Water Resources Manager Michael Boule told the city council last month that Surprise has demonstrated to the state that it has a 100-year water supply, giving it a state “designation of assured water supply.” The city also has about 17 years of water banked in the system, and officials are already planning for 2040 now.
