OPINION — I don’t know if the residents of Surprise are just upset at ICE operations or are they upset that people will be temporarily detained at this location?
If people are concerned about their safety due to illegal immigrants being detained at the location, I will let them know that they shouldn’t be. I recently retired from a police department in California and moved to Surprise for retirement.
Detention facilities are safe locations with high security. If people are upset with ICE operations, I have this to say to them: There are a lot of illegal immigrants committing crime within our country and are given lenient sentencing for their crimes due to liberal district attorneys in states like California.
