A man was arrested Friday night on charges including aggravated assault of an officer, according to a Surprise police arrest report.

On Feb. 3, a Surprise Police Department officer responded to a report of threats made towards a victim.

Upon arrival, the officer learned the victim’s ex-boyfriend, Marcus Farmer, 32, had called her multiple times and told her “I will hurt you,” and “I’m going to ruin your car.”

According to a probable cause statement, the woman told the officer she did not know where Farmer was but said he worked near Bell and Reems roads. The officer left the residence to check the intersection for Farmer.

While en-route, the woman called the officer and said Farmer was at her house trying to break the front door.

The officer returned to find Farmer, the woman and two other people outside. Farmer was yelling, and the others were telling him to leave.

The officer approached Farmer and instructed him to come with him. Farmer then drank from a clear plastic bottle which contained vodka. The officer pulled the bottle put Farmer held on.

After the officer gained full control of the bottle, Farmer pushed him with his hand. The officer tazed Farmer after continued resistance.

Farmer attempted to kick the officer in the groin while at the police car, but the officer blocked Farmer’s leg with his own.

According to the Maricopa County Superior Court website, Farmer faces two counts of aggravated assault of an officer and one count of resisting arrest. Surprise Police also charged him with three counts of disorderly conduct.

Officials booked Farmer into the 4th Avenue Jail on a $7,500 bond. He awaits a court appearance on Feb. 10.
