Surprise plans July 4th celebration

COVID wiped out annual event in 2020

Plans are on for a July 4th celebration in Surprise — albeit with crowd restrictions.

A year after the celebration was canceled all together because of the coronavirus pandemic, city officials are already putting together this year’s event, which will be held in the traditional spot of Mark Coronado Park, 15850 N. Bullard Ave.

“We’ll have fireworks for sure,” said Parks and Recreation Assistant Director Paul Frie at the April 26 meeting of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission.
