The long saga of Surprise’s attempts to acquire the Circle City Water Co. is finally over, and the city is now making plans for taking over service on July 1.
The acquisition of the area north of Surprise will raise the city’s annual entitlement to Colorado River water from 10,249 acre-feet to 14,181 acre-feet, helping to meet future water demands.
“This has been a long, long road, and we’ve been all over the map trying to get this stuff pushed through,” City Councilmember Chris Judd said during a council meeting in late January.
