While last year’s disapproval did not morph into this year’s exuberant praise, the revamped Prose Apartment project near Sun Village and Summerfield appears to be more palatable.
On Nov. 15, 2022, the Surprise City Council voted 4-3 against a rezoning from commercial to high-density residential that would have paved the way for the project. The site is shaped almost like an upside down home plate on 13.2 acres on the southwest corner of Mountain View Boulevard and White Horse Trail.
Earlier last year, the Surprise Planning and Zoning Commission recommended against approving the project. July 6 the commission heard the altered Prose project with no three-story buildings less than 50 feet from Sun Village and 14 less units.
