Surprise, Peoria agree on Jomax extension deal

Roadwork should bring some relief to congested northwest area

Residents in the northwest part of Surprise have been begging for years for another way in and out of neighborhoods.

While improvements have been made to make the road wider, 163rd Avenue remains the main way people get to and from that area, which is on the other side of Grand Avenue and cut off from the rest of Surprise.

But now the cities of Surprise and Peoria have agreed to a plan that will extend Jomax Road from Dysart Road to 126th Drive, giving motorists an alternative to 163rd.
