Surprise paves way for new police substation

Land swap, purchase open up five acres in north part of city

North Surprise will soon have more patrol officers and detectives, additional traffic enforcement and house the city’s first animal control facility.

The Surprise City Council earlier this month agreed on an exchange of 3 acres of land the city currently owns in the northwest area with three acres of adjacent property currently owned by Asante Development Partners to make way for the city’s first police substation.

The council also agreed to purchase of 2 acres of ADP land, giving the future substation 5 acres with which to work on 163rd Avenue, south of Happy Valley Road and next to Fire Station 304.
