Surprise passes final $881.3 million budget

City’s largest-ever budget features public safety spots

The Surprise City Council put the finishing touches on the city’s biggest-ever budget at a special meeting June 6.

The council gave unanimous approval on a $881.3 million budget for fiscal year 2024 that features the hiring of more public safety positions.

The budget calls for the addition of 77 full-time equivalent positions. About a third of those (26 total) are going to public safety.
