Surprise parks department plans public outreach

New leader, commission hope to pick feasible project or 2 to take to community

The Surprise Parks and Recreation Master Plan is a sprawling mission statement with long-term goals that are hard to corral.

At the Aug. 23 Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission meeting, this board and the new department director agreed it would be best to break down potential projects into more digestible bites for residents, the parks department and its board.

Department staff and board members also want to see if they can convert one project into a park or facility, with the help of resident outreach.
