Surprise packs Harry Potter-themed night with events

CITY OF SURPRISE
Surprise is hosting several family friendly, Harry Potter-themed events on Saturday, April 29 at Mark Coronado Park, 15960 N. Bullard Ave.
Potter in the Park
Dress as a favorite Harry Potter character and join in a magical afternoon at Potter in the Park! There will be a costume contest, wand making, herbology, potions, games, live animals, food trucks for purchase and more.
Costume contest categories include Most Creative, Best Original Character, Wizard with the Best House Spirit and Best Harry Potter.
Potter in the Park is from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and is $10 per person for age 1 and up. Space is limited so registration is necessary. To register, head to surpriseaz.gov/surpriserec and click on "Special Events & Programs" or contact 623.-22-2000.
Adaptive Adult Social
An adaptive adult social also will be offered from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
This social event is designed for individuals ages 16 and up with intellectual, developmental or physical disabilities. Participants will have an opportunity to meet others, share social experiences and enjoy a fun activity.
As this event is designed for adult participants, we want this to be an evening of independence and socialization with current and new friends. Parents and highly encouraged to drop off and return for pick up at the conclustion of the event.
Cost is $15 per person (residents) and $20 per person (non-resident). Sign up on Surprise Rec
Free Movie Night in the Park
The wizardly fun continues with Movie Night in the Park, featuring ‘Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone’ presented by Coulter Nissan. Gates open at 6:30 and the movie will begin at approximately 7 p.m.
Enjoy a line-up of food trucks for purchase and participate in some pre-movie activities.
Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit and enjoy the movie. If a furry companion is coming along, they must be on a leash.
