West Valley city looks to reboot performing arts venue

Once home to professional shows, the venue may see more acts next year

A new partnership between the city of Surprise and the Dysart Unified School District could bring professional shows back to The Vista Center for the Arts by the end of next year.

The Surprise City Council on April 1 expressed interest in moving forward on a deal with the school district and the Vista Foundation to take over producing and managing shows at the 1,300-seat facility that is on the Valley Vista High School campus.

“Our objective, our dream has been to ensure that the beautiful Vista Center for the Arts will continue to be a cultural centerpiece for Dysart students and the Surprise community for decades to come,” City Manager Bob Wingenroth told the council.
