West Valley city has become ground zero for political protests

National rally, opposition at Hamadeh’s office gain steam

Legislative District 29 Democrats chair Manuel Hernandez was hoping for a turnout of a couple hundred people when a grassroots Democrat group fighting against the Trump Administration announced an April 5 protest in Surprise.

It turns out Hernandez didn’t have to worry.

At least a couple thousand people lined up along a quarter-mile stretch of Bell Road as part of a nationwide protest of President Trump and adviser Elon Musk, called “Hands Off,” which happened in 1,000 cities across America, including four in the Valley.
