Surprise Fire Department gets grant for homeland security program

The Surprise Fire-Medical Department has been awarded a $85,000 grant to sustain the department’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives program.

The department secured the money through the Arizona Department of Homeland Security to pay for the CBRNE program, equipment and training.

The CBRNE program supports the Surprise’s hazardous materials apparatus and personnel.
