Bond questions key on public safety, transportation

Information pamphlets detailing the upcoming Surprise bond special election are now arriving at voters’ homes.
“They should be arriving in your households now or anytime this week,” City Clerk Kristi Passarelli said at the Oct. 3 City Council meeting.
Surprise voters are going to decide two bond questions totaling $100 million during the Tuesday, Nov. 7 special election. The first question, which deals with transportation, is for $66 million for five projects across the city. The second question keys on public safety, with $34 million at stake for three city projects.

Oct. 10 is the last day to register for the election. To check a registration status, visit beballotready.vote.
Ballots will be mailed out to registered voters on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
In-person voting at City Hall, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza, will start Monday, Oct. 30. Hours in person are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 30 through Friday, Nov. 3. Election day polling hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A drop box will also be available at City Hall.
Tuesday, Oct. 31 is the last day to mail back ballot for officials to receive it in time to count on election day.
