Surprise dog parks more bite than bark these days

Aggressive, big dogs taking fun out of parks for some

Chris Arb lives in El Mirage, but she travels to Surprise daily to bring her poodle Buddy to the Surprise Community Park Dog Park.

But about a year ago she started noticing something at the park: Some of the big dogs began getting a little too aggressive, taking away the enjoyment of the park for many who use it frequently.

“There’s a fight over there almost everyday,” Arb said about the big dog pen at the park. “And that’s why people who have medium-sized dogs or even larger dogs who are more timid, they’re scared to take them over there because they’re afraid they’ll get bit.”
