West Valley city to drop microtransit service

Pilot program to end June 30 from low ridership numbers

Kevin James is like a good number of Surprise seniors who are dependent on public transportation.

The 64-year-old resident of the Holiday Vista de la Montana independent living community is legally blind, so when he heard Surprise offered a pair of transit options that fit his needs he moved there from Sun City West less than a year ago.

“I came here partially because there was WeRIDE or RideChoice here,” James said.
