Surprise councilmember censured for questionable campaigning

Council punishes Cline for illegal campaigning, sign incident

The Surprise City Council voted June 18 to censure Councilmember Aly Cline for illegally campaigning at her periodic district meetings and for taking down a questionable campaign sign in March.

One of her opponents in the July primary is asking her to drop out of the race because of it, but Cline said she is staying in it to the end.

“Any violations were unintentional on my part,” Cline said. “I have been apprised of the things that were violations and promised not to do anything like that again.”
