Just six months into his tenure on the Surprise City Council, Jack Hastings is facing a recall effort from a longtime Surprise resident.
Because of a vote Mr. Hastings took on the city’s 2021 legislative agenda in January, Aaron Bacon filed a petition for a recall on May 4, the first possible day he could do so.
“Mr. Hastings does not represent the values of Surprise District 5,” Mr. Bacon wrote on his petition for recall. City Clerk Sherry Aguilar said recall proceedings against a sitting council member cannot happen until six months after taking the oath of office.
