Readiness, economics and safety drove a fairly straightforward and unanimous Surprise Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission recommendation on the site of the third city pool.
All seven commission members voted during the Aug. 22 meeting in favor of the pool being built at Perryville and Cactus roads in the city’s southwest area.
If approved by council this fall, the pool would be the centerpiece of a 19-acre campus a bit north of Shadow Ridge High School. A fire station and police substation also are planned on the parcel, which was purchased by Surprise for $3.3 million in July.
