Surprise-based West Valley Symphony slates October auditions

Auditions for the West Valley Symphony’s 2023-2024 55th season are approaching.
All auditions will take place at Workpliciti, 3377 S. Price Road, Chandler. Auditions for principal tuba will take place on Saturday morning, Oct. 7. Principal oboe, English horn and second bassoon are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 8.
All string auditions are scheduled for Saturday Oct. 14, including principal cello and section celli; section violas (viola, chair four is available as an interim position); second violin (chair four is available as an interim position); and section double bass.

The symphony’s six-concert season 2023-24 takes place at 3 p.m. Sundays in The Vista Center for the Arts, 15560 North Parkview Place, Surprise. The symphony’s box office services are handled by The Vista.
New series and single tickets went on sale on Aug. 1. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. For information, call 623-523-8888 or 623-523-8890 or visit thevistaaz.com.
The 23-24 season begins Nov. 12 with Russian Reveries and audience favorite, Vladimir Khomyakov, performing Prokofiev’s Concerto No. 3. On Dec. 17, the West Valley Chorale directed by Ken Goodenberger will join the West Valley Symphony and Maestro Cal Stewart Kellogg in The Spirit of the Season concert.

The West Valley Symphony has been a cultural constant since being incorporated in 1968 as The Sun City Symphony Orchestra. Renamed the West Valley Symphony in 2004 to better represent the audience it serves, it continues to present symphonic music Sunday afternoons from November through April.
