Art lovers of all ages can discover art for free in Surprise with sketching tours, art classes, local gallery visits and more.
Surprise has set its upcoming schedule of early art events in 2024.
Here’s a look at some upcoming events:
- Tour of artist Joe Tyler’s home studio: 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Jan. 20 and Saturday, March 16. Take a free tour of the home studio of local artist Joe Tyler, who has worked on large public art sculptures with strong botanical influences.
- Art Tour with Kevin Caron Studios: 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Feb. 1. This tour will guide participants to notice the art all around us and access their inner creativity.
- Family Gallery Tour: 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 24. Three local galleries will have family-friendly activities and opportunities for participants to meet with local artists, take an arts class and learn how to view and find meaning and beauty in art. Recommended for ages 7 and over.
- Outdoor Art Sketching Tour: 10 a.m. to noon. Saturday, April 6. Explore public art outside City Hall. Participants will be guided to create their own sketches, taking notice of the art and creativity all around in a fun, low-stress, outdoor, judgement-free zone.
- Gallery Tour: 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, May 9. Meet with local artists, take an arts class and learn how to find meaning and beauty in art.
The Family Gallery Tour and Outdoor Art Sketching Tour are designated as an all-ages event.
