Surprise police, community remember 9/11

It's been 24 years since 9/11, but police and community members in Surprise continue to honor the memories of the fallen.

Thirty-five police officers and citizens gathered at City Hall, 16000 N Civic Center Plaza, Sept. 10 to walk the four-story parking garage.  Participants went up the four flights of stairs, ran and/or walked across the top floor and then down the stairs, repeating it 27 times until the last round when they only went up two flights for a total of 110 flights of stairs, said Sergeant Will Bisson of the Surprise Police Department.

"I started the evening showing a video about 9/11 and speaking to never forgetting those we lost that day and the first responders who entered the building knowing they may not survive," Bisson said. "There are multiple untold stories of heroic people that day we will never know."
