Superstition Fire and Medical District to sponsor EVIT firefighter program

A fire district that covers Apache Junction and Gold Canyon is sponsoring the East Valley Institute of Technology’s firefighter program in Mesa so it can be certified to a national standard.

The Superstition Fire and Medical District board of directors on Jan. 18 voted unanimously to provide a sponsorship letter to the Arizona Center for Fire Service Excellence for EVIT.

“It sounds like a good opportunity,” Board Chairman Kathleen Chamberlain said prior to the vote.
