Superstition Fire and Medical District employee in ‘incident’ resigned, district says

A now former employee of Superstition Fire and Medical District was off-duty during an Aug. 28 “incident” in Apache Junction when he was operating a district vehicle, officials said in a social media post.

The post doesn’t mention allegations made on Facebook that an SFMD vehicle was seen swerving on Royal Palm Road, that the driver got out and stumbled into a local business, that a passerby called 911 and police responded.

“Superstition Fire & Medical District is aware of the incident that occurred on Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, involving an off-duty employee operating a district vehicle. Upon learning of the incident, the district took immediate action and placed the employee on administrative leave pending formal investigation. The employee has since resigned from the district,” the SFMD post on Facebook states.
