Superintendent: SUSD needs to close two more schools by 2028-29 school year

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board’s money saving decision to close Pima Elementary and Echo Canyon K-8 School during it’s Dec. 9 meeting wasn’t the end of the matter — it was just the beginning .

The district still needs to close another two schools by the 2028-29 school year to make ends meet, Superintendent Dr. Scott Menzel told the board during its Jan. 6 meeting.

Dr. Menzel wants the board to decide which schools will be closed in October.
