Superintendent surveys parents for ‘pool testing’ Scottsdale classrooms

Students, staff sent home with COVID-like symptoms in first days of school

With hundreds of students quarantining from COVID-19 after less than one week of school, Scottsdale Unified School District’s superintendent says a new mitigation measure is being considered.

Dr. Scott A. Menzel issued a survey asking parents’ opinion on pool testing SUSD classrooms, he said during an Aug. 10 district Governing Board meeting.

“There is one layered mitigation strategy that we have not implemented yet — that’s the option of conducting pooled testing. We will not do testing without parental consent, just to be clear,” Menzel said.
