Sun West Art Show committee members at Marcy Hjertstedt, chairwoman; Sharon Cottle and Joyce Lancaster.
The 37th Annual Sun West Art Show is 10:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, March 11 and 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12 at the Palm Ridge Social Hall, 13800 Deer Valley Drive.
This is a judged show, which means all art work exhibited must meet judges’ criteria in determining appropriate quality for the show. There will be more than 100 pieces of fine art on display.
The exhibit will include traditional, non-traditional and experimental pieces involving oils, pastels, watercolors, acrylics, gourds, inks, mixed media and three dimensional art. The pieces displayed will be in beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional categories. First, second, third and honorable mention awards will be granted in each level.
All the displayed art has been created by members of the Sun City West Art Club. This free art show is open to the public. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite art work in the people’s choice Award category.
In addition to the works displayed in the show, many of which will be for sale, a silent auction on Saturday will also offer 25 pieces of fine art for collectors to view and bid on. Winning artists will receive their ribbons and awards at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Visitors are welcome to attend the awards presentation and reception.
