READING PROGRAM

Sun Lakes Rotary encourages donations to help young readers

Posted

The Rotary Club of Sun Lakes is proud to support many educational opportunities within the East Valley. One of these exceptional programs is the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.

Reading regularly to children during their preschool years gives them the biggest boost toward a successful academic life, Val Crump, the Sun Lakes Rotary’s DPIL Lead, said in a news release.

Crump said Parton’s vision was to create a lifelong love of reading. It’s also to prepare children for school and inspire them to dream, as well as support her desire to improve each child’s educational opportunities.

RCSL partnered with the Dolly Parton Foundation in 2019 to provide books to children in four East Valley zip codes, at no cost to the family. These books are available at no cost for children from birth until their 5th birthday.

The club has more than 700 children registered in its program, and it is rapidly growing. The club is asking for your help to continue to provide this service to community children. RCSL is looking for corporate sponsors and any individual donations.
