Sun City will get new fire truck

Ladder tender in need of replacement

There will be a new ladder tender rolling into Sun City Fire and Medical Department stations in 18-24 months.

The Sun City Fire District board approved spending up to $600,000 for the new vehicle. It will replace an aging ladder tender that reached the end of its useful life and has been costly to keep running, according to Rob Schmitz, Sun City acting fire chief.

“The ladder tender has been having multiple problems,” he said. “We’re not sure it will last the 18-24 months it will take to get the new one.”
