A Sun City West synagogue is opening its doors to two local groups to give them a home — and in the process preserve its own.
The Beth Emeth Congregation of the West Valley, 13702 W. Meeker Blvd., is using a sharing remedy to keep its doors open to the community. Church board President Tom Behrendt said as the only Jewish congregation in the West Valley with a conservative synagogue, people come from all over the region to attend events such as bar mitzvah lessons and free high holiday events.
The opening up to other groups comes as the Beth Emeth Congregation has seen declining membership and is looking for ways to keep its own doors and services open.
