About half the items Rip ’N’ Sew’s Sewing from the Heart members made and donated to Phoenix Indian Medical Center had been packed two months earlier and stored at Stacy Jordan’s house. She brought them back to the clubhouse for transport to the hospital.

Volunteers with Sewing from the Heart, a group within Rip ’N’ Sew, spent much of 2023 making items for Phoenix Indian Medical Center, 4212 N. 16th St., in Phoenix. Marilyn Zenz coordinates Sewing from the Heart, whose mission is sewing for children.
Rip ’N’ Sew member Katherine Kendall delivered the items to the hospital. Items included 80 hats, six pairs of mittens, 40-plus blankets, 16 girls’ dresses, seven fleece jackets, 31 fleece vests and about 50 assorted stuffed animals, all made for children. Rip ’N’ Sew also made and donated 20 cancer hats for children and adults, and 20 bags that fit on walkers.
Already being made are more knit hats and more blankets, Zenz said.
